Cooperation on monitoring and dissemination

Founders of HYDROS
We are proud founders of HYDROS and we share the common belief that the quality of Icelandic water is the key to our success.

First Water
First Water has revolutionized salmon farming with a sustainable approach in Þorlákshöfn. Utilizing Icelandic nature to produce high-quality salmon with minimal environmental impact. Production of 8,300 tons per year in the first phase!

Geo Salmo
Geo Salmo aims to be a leader in the development of land-based salmon farming. The project involves building a 20,000 ton land-based farm in Ölfus and a full-scale processing facility that will enable GeoSalmo to produce roe to finished products within the same facility.

Kaldvík
Kaldvík salmon is raised as a stock in Ölfus and then transported to the salmon's natural habitat in the fjords of East Iceland. Kaldvík emphasizes safety, sustainability and animal welfare with transparent practices and care for future generations.

Thor, landeldi
Thor Landeldi ehf. has begun construction of a land-based salmon farm at Þorlákshöfn. The unique location offers clean, high-quality seawater that is naturally filtered through lava at the ideal temperature for salmon farming. The goal is a production capacity of 20,000 tons per year.

Sveitarfélagið Ölfus
Ölfus is a municipality located on the southwest coast of Iceland, about 50 km from Reykjavík. The population is just over 3000 and is growing rapidly. Þorlákshöfn is the largest town in the municipality with about 1900 inhabitants.
